GETTING A LIBRARY CARD

Library cards from any public library in Milwaukee County may be used at all of them, so if you already have a valid card from another member library of the Milwaukee County Federated Library System, there is no need to get another from Wauwatosa Public.

To get a new card, you must bring current identification to the Circulation Desk.  While we prefer a current driver’s license with your current address, we understand that you may not yet have had time to have that changed.  We will also accept recently postmarked business mail (such as a utility bill, a bank statement, etc.) sent to your name at your current address.  Filling out our application form should take only a few minutes, and you may use the card on the same day.

Children may have their own library cards once they are able to sign their name on the application form.  Children applying for cards must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with current identification.

If you are not a resident of Milwaukee County, you may purchase a library card for $100.00 per year (12 months from the date of purchase).  These cards may be used for an entire family, but can be used ONLY at the Wauwatosa Public Library, not at other Milwaukee County public libraries.  In addition, please note that these fee cards may not be used to place holds on or to check out materials belonging to other libraries.
